Designed for independent seniors, these communities provide minimal assistance. They don’t offer support with daily activities or meal preparation, catering to those who require little or no aid.
Assisted Living Community
Assisted Living combines housing, personalized services, and health-related care for those needing daily assistance. These communities are licensed and regulated by the Department of Social Services.
Board & Care Homes
Board and care homes, or personal care homes, offer residential care for a few residents. Licensed by the Department of Social Services, they assist with daily living and provide meals.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs)
CCRCs provide various care levels: independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. Regulated by the Department of Social Services.
Independent Homes
Independent homes in residential settings provide care for a small number of residents throughout most of the day. They may or may not offer resident activities and are not regulated by the Department of Social Services.
Independent Living Community
Independent living caters to seniors needing minimal assistance. These communities are licensed and regulated by the Department of Social Services and offer meals, onsite amenities and social activities.
Memory Care Community
Memory Care communities provide housing and services for residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementia forms. These communities are licensed and regulated by the Department of Social Services.
Skilled Nursing Facility
California nursing homes are licensed as Skilled Nursing Facilities by the Department of Public Health. They offer 24-hour skilled care for chronic and short-term conditions requiring medical and nursing attention.
Transitional Housing
Residential transitional homes care for a few residents, assisting with daily living. They offer a fresh start for disabled and mentally unstable individuals, often without Department of Social Services licensing.
